Rebecca Shoptaw is a recent college grad (Yale '18) and filmmaker. Ever since high school, she has spent most of her time making tender short films about LGBTQ+ characters and releasing them on YouTube.
Most recently, she wrote, directed, shot and edited the critically-acclaimed 70-episode web series Middlemarch: The Series, a modernized adaptation of George Eliot's Victorian novel Middlemarch that aired over the course of 2017 on YouTube.
Her work has been screened at several festivals, including NewFest (2017), the North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (2016 & 2017), the Two Cliffs Film Festival (2016), and the MiFo LGBT Festival (2016).
She loves telling the kinds of stories that usually don't get told, and is always looking for new stories to tell and new ways to tell them.
